For better (and prettier) service, head for the back bar. Harveys Best is always on, but can be of variable quality. Other ales are usually fine though.
By Toby Kirby on Tuesday 29th January 2008With the refit of Borough Market, this pub is getting busier and busier, although extra seating at the rear has helped. Upstairs dining is excellent, but booking is advisable - popular for Christmas parties. If the crowds are too much for you and you have a penchant for darker ales, try the Wright Brothers Oyster & Porter House.

Still full of life and ale, but so busy that requesting atop-up on a pint can become tiresome - why don't they serve you right first time?!? Cannot fault the quality of the ale, perhaps a little too cool if anything. Given the popularity of this pub, I would imagine each cask is drained within 48 hours. Recently tried a Pictish stout, and several ales for Northern breweries I haven't come across elsewhere in London. A classic pub, albeit permanently rammo.
